two different types of ram
im just curious. i have a mobo that supports pc-2100 and pc-2700. can i like crossbreed them. like can i have 256mb pc-2100 and 256mb pc-2700 in at the same time??

I don't think I'd mix 'em. Any flakey behavior from the computer would lead to suspecting the RAM. Everytime I've tried that sorta thing in the past, it resulted in a flakey machine.

agreed, you can easily mix sizes (128MB chip with a 256MB chip) in which case you would want your larger chip closest to the CPU. but don't mix speeds

Technically, you should be able to mix the two, and the faster will just downclock to match the slower. In practice however, data and adam are right, it often causes problems. If you have both sticks, give it a shot, but if you're buying, get the same speed.
