Had the same problem with my kids mini diskman the other day , played around with it for hours, finally changed the batteries in the stupid thing and it worked. Try another divice in the usb and see if it works. What error are you getting when you try to use the mp3 ?

Send a message via AIM to Pester
BIOS

Check your bios and make sure your USB ports are turned on. Also make sure your USB hubs and all the drivers are working properly in the device manager. Also please note you have to have service pack 1 with winxp to allow for USB 2.0 to work.
