Useless Wireless

Reciently my wireless modem has decided to quit working. when i go to ipconfig it says it is disconnected but when i ping an address it pings four times and recieves four back with none lost. in my advanced tab it says windows cannot display the properties of this connection. the wmi might be corrupt. i was told to delete out thr repository folder in the wbem folder and that the files in that folder will reinstall them selves and fix it's self. but so far the wmi isn't fixed and wireless connection isn't working can anyone please help? i am a student and rely on the connection to work on shared files in class.
thanks in advance,
Xerexis

wireless modem? Since it sounds like you are a little on the unexperienced side, I want to make sure it is in fact your modem that you are talking about. Many noobies get it mixed up with a wireless router (properly designated a Wireless Access Point or WAP or even a wireless NIC. So please describe the location of the device, its functions, and what cords you can trace going into the devide. Thanks.

P.S. Did you get your name from the System Shock series?

The hardware in question is a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter. I think the biggest problem is it's a gateway, lol.

The name came from Xerxes who was Darius's son and the new king of Persia. The Persians Invaded Greece at the Sardis of Asia Minor possesing and using 60,000 men and 1200 ships, "the largest invasion force the world had yet seen" His best soldiers were called the "10,000 Immortals"
His foot soldiers were armed with spears, and he also had archers.

All of his empire were required to send him men to fight in the war His men marched into the narrow channel which divides Asia Minor from Europe.

The Greeks chose to defend: Their land at Thermopylae, The sea at Artemisium. Both were losses for the Greeks.

I just changed it a little bit for my use.

Kinda busy so this will be short, but with more to come later. Try resetting the router. And what are ALL of the cables and cords going into the device?

Routers get attacked, connections get dropped. I have this:

Land Wire > DSL Modem > Router

It is necessary for me to reset both the router and modem on occassion. Usually just the router.

Try turning off the tesla coil

Sounds like you have serious interference. I get about 80 feet of "very good" range out of mine, through several walls and floors. Directly below the router, one floor below, all our computers get an "Excellent" signal. The only thing that I think causes me to actually have to reset my stuff are 1) attacks or 2) the fault of SBC (the DSL provider).
