Video Adapter Driver

Hello All,

As far as hardware is concerned I’m a total nube. So I need advice on how to find the right video card driver and how to install it; mostly though I don't know where to find it. I’m not really sure what kind of video card I have either. Advice on how to find this information and or links to previous threads which already covered this issue will be very appreciated.

Download SiSoftware Sandra. Run the video module and it will tell you your video card information. There are other software utilities that will do the same but I don't know them off hand. After you know your video card, you can look for drivers. Check the vendor's website first.

click on START->RUN
type in dxdiag
and click on OK

this will bring up a new window, in here click on the DISPLAY tab
in here it should tell you the name of your vid card, and manufacturer and all that jazz.

then to a search for that manufacturers website

Thanks for the great advice guy! However, I still can’t get any information. When I tried dxdiag it said that there is no DirectX support therefore it can’t give me any display information except that its name is VGA. The SiSoftware just had an EROR sign when I looked at the Video Adapter details. I’ll probably end up just getting a new adapter. Can anyone recommend a good brand name?
