Depends what you mean by "sorta cheap". Pick a pricepoint, go to newegg.com and see what you can get for that price, then go to http://www20.graphics.tomshardware....1229/index.html and see which of the cards at that price scores better.

You like such a dilemma? A(^^;
It relies on what you want to do. If you won't play any game, any cards with 4mb or more will make do. And if you won't play game, but want to deal with precise graphics, AGP-Pro such as WildCat from Intergraph is needed or favourable. Even the cheapest one may happen to be matched with your display. Then that higher ones doesn't harmonize with your monitor, also may happen, depending on your favour in the teeth of other's recomendation. In a way, everybody must sacrifice themselves to the card or motherboard. Amen! |

Even that depends on the Dell you would buy. Something like a Radeon 9600pro would probably be plenty good for light gaming, and routine use. If you have your eye on FarCry and Doom 3, you'll probably want a 9800pro or better, if you plan on more than minimal settings. Honestly, when shopping for these things, you need to "begin with the end in mind". You must know what you want to use it for, there is not a "best" card to suit all users.

*sigh* Which one? There are different levels of Geforce (and Radeon) cards, which may have the same amount of memory, but differ hugely in other areas, such as the number of pipelines, gpu power, etc, which have major impact on performance. However, just look at the tomshardware link I put up earlier, and see where your card is on the games/apps you are likely to use. You want at least 30 fps from games to be playable. Check it out.
