Will my hardware work together for the good?

Does anyone know of a resource that tells what hardware is ok to use with other hardware? It seems that every time I build a computer, one or two pieces of hardware don't like another piece of hardware and BAD things start to happen. I even had Linux TOTALLY crash on me on one of my machines thanks to a conflict with my sound card.

Basically the best thing to do is google before you buy any hardware. You will find a lot of people moaning if something doesn't work with something else.

You shouldn't have any trouble though, unless there are 2 peices of hardware which force the same IRQ but I have not seen any problems like this since windows 2000 came out, which has far superior memory allocation that the previous incarnations.

I would say go for a brand name machine like a Dell or IBM orso.

is usually a good place to find information, reviews etc....

With the brand name machine, they will sure work, but they will cost you more, will be less performant, will last less longer and is not as much fun !

I prefer to choose wich product I really want, to inform me etc....
I suggest checking www.ncix.com, that's where I bought my computer (best price in canada, don't know for the us). You have a lot and a lot of information there too and for a little price they can assemble your computer, test it etc... before delivery so you are sure everything works well with it.
