I just recently installed an external broadband modem, but after reboot, Windows XP just shutdown automatically.What can i do?

does it stay up if the modem is disconnected? if so unistall all software. check to make sure your using the same wall socket or at least the same phase from the home's panelboard.sometime's if all parts that are connected to a computer are on differant phases wierd things can happen. it a long shot but worth looking at.
