Wireless PC Monitor - Does it exist?
I want to be able to sit in the next room and use my pc while watching tv.
The keyboard and mouse are wireless. The monitor is not. Is there such thing as an adaptor - or built-in to a monitor - a wireless monitor? So I could have a seperate monitor in that room that will have the signal of picture sent to it wirelessly? Thanks |

no, a monitor uses way too much bandwidth to make wireless (for example my monitor uses 1.65Gbps on the DVI cable), if you want to use your computer remotely then i suggest you make some type of thin client that you can use, either an old laptop or just a computer hooked up next to you, the computer can be old and slow, it just needs to have a network connection (the faster the better), then you can use VNC/RDC/whatever to connect to your computer, when doing this everything is transfered over the network and will will notice the reduced bandwidth, it will be just about impossible to play games or watch videos as they need too much bandwidth
if you really want to be able to do do things that require fast moving graphics then you would really have to run a DVI cable that distance (VGA is analog and suffers much more from a long cable run [stuff gets dim and things ghost]), newegg has a 36ft cable, i saw some people saying you can find cables up to and over 120ft if you look hard enough, and if you need more there are repeaters that should be able to extend that distance (where with an analog signal repeaters do not exist)

i wasn't sure just how much information is going through a monitor cable. I'll have to look in to other options, thanks! ![]() |

edman007 is absolutely correct. I was just googling wireless pc monitor and came across your post as well as the LONGVIEW WIRELESS KVM EXTENDER EXTENDER SINGLE USER - LV3500W-AM, for $560-970.
It looks like this device does just what edman007 was talking about, for about the price of a new PC, and without all the extra functionality another PC would provide. |

For that price, it's hardly worth it - you could just as easily buy a laptop and use that in the next room instead for that price.
