Power loss results in missing network adapter.

This happend to me quite a few times, so I decided to ask about it.

My computer is Compaq Presario 5004US, upgraded to XP pro

My network adapter is SMC EZ 10/100 10/100 PCI 1211 Series.

When I shut my switch on the wall, the computer shuts. (Best way to explain for me)

First time I did that, no problem
From second time, I couldn't connect, error was specified address could not be reached. So I did about 10 system restores to fix it.

It continued on for about 8 times, and it just happend today morning because a guest shut it off.

Is there any way to fix it? I've tried installing driver but it gives an unknown error.

You turned off the switch on the wall to shutdown your PC??? It's not the proper way to do it. Try to run ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to renew your ip address. Check to see if your NIC driver still there, if not you need to uninstall and reinstall the NIC thru computer manager. Good luck!
