Athlon XP 2400+ cause SMPS damage
I have upgraded my system from XP 2000+ to XP 2400+ on Asus A7V266MX mb. After installing the new CPU, the system switched of at about 3 mins. So, i applied a new paste, the system is ok. But after 3-4 hrs, the system stop working and the SMPS was damaged. I changed the SMPS and the same problems happens again 2/3 times. I installed Asus probe and check the voltage and temp. frequently. The 12 volts line show sometimes more than 13 Volts and the CPU temp shows more than 65 and then I have to switch it off and wait for the CPU to cool as i'm affraid of damaging the SMPS again. Please anyone can help me ? Should i have to replace the cPU to XP 2000+ back again which does not give me any trouble before. Thanks. |
