Fan not working "I think"

I have an Advent 7106. When I turn it on the fan starts then after about 2 seconds it stops and never runs again. after about 5 mins the computer halts as it gets to warm.

Is this a fault with the fan or the motherboard? I have not changed the fan as I have not got a new one

Thanks for any help

Dave

Before getting a new fan, try cleaning your current fan and see if that makes a difference.

I have a similar issue with my northbridge fan. If I make it move while the pc is running, it'll spin with noise for about a minute and while I'm watching its RPM, it suddenly dies without warning. It's not catching on anything, and it's clean.

I'd love to know the answer to this question as well.

Thanks for the comment I have cleaned the fan but no luck have tried spinning it as well but no luck there either. It certainly looks to me that the fan is dead but not sure if there is any other issue that maybe causing it.
