Graphics card overheating - BFG GTX280
Well since i've built my computer last Christmas its been overheating randomly but now i cant play 1 game without a hard crash where i have to manually start it up again.

What could be the problem i've replaced all my stock fans with faster once that move more air.

GPU Idle temp: 117*F / 47*C
GPU Gaming Temp/Crashing Temp: 141.8*F / 61*C
CPU Temp: 40*C
CPU Crashing temp: 47*C

More specs:

OS: Vista 64bit
Graphics Card: Gtx 285 bfg
CPU: Intel Core i7 "2.7ghz"
CPU Heatsink: V8 Cooler Master
Ram: 6 gig ram "3 stick ddr3"
Desktop Res: 1900-1200
PSU: Ultra X3 1600w Power Supply
Case: Abs Canyon 695

if its been like that since stock, you might want to contact bfg for an RMA as you might have gotten one with a bad cooler

Your card isn't overheating. Mine ran at 105*C before I swapped the TIM. The board itself is faulty. BFG and EVGA have huge QC issues with that card. I went through 3 RMAs before I said screw it. FWIW there is a HUGE thread over on nvnews about it.

hm i didnt see those temps clearly before, but yes the temps actually seem really good, i'd RMA for sure.

The crazy thing is that when it slows down the fps stay the same it looks as if the game / Vantage goes into slowmo mode.It runs with 1/4 of the normal speed for 5 seconds
