Cooling
Just checked my new iDEQ (a cube) with an Ath 3200 and found the cpu temp was 50c/122F and the SYS temp 47/118 =/- 2 degs. Placed a 9 inch diam fan pointing through side vebt holes and it did not make a blind bit of difference! Reckon the answer is..fire up the box..do the job..and shut it down..(Never saw the sense in running 24/7 anyway! Think of the power bills (they reckon that keeping the box on will add another 300 dollars to your power bill!

Hope this is in the right place
I have been readiong this forum for quite some time, and noticed alot of people with AMD cpu temp qustions.
It appears that my system is quite hot from most or all replys, My config on my system is = Gigabyet GA-7VM400M using Via kt-333/400 chipset, cpu is a XP2200, system memory 512 samsung pc2100/266mhz..
My system on a cold boot cpu temp is aprox: 58 C. and warmed at an idle 61 C. under load 65 C. meanwhile system temp remains a fairly constant 44 C. So I went to amd's web site and there white papers stated that max Die temp is 85 C. now I would assume there being somewhat cautious, but after reading several post seems to me the users have a better idea what the cpu temp should be in a working enviroment than the lab rats working in a controlled temperature ,and dust free Lab..
So my question is like most of what ive seen on here Guess I just want some reassurance and advise as to how I can lower my cpu temp ( I already have a huge heatsink, and a cpu fan the size of a jet engine trying to keep this puppy from random OS failures..
I do not know how to lower my cpu core voltage and in my bios they only show how to increase it ( right now its at the default) Is there a software program out there I can get to lower it ?
please advise.
Thanks Jmweber

Suit yourself, order from the states and spend loads of $$$.
Seriously, 40C is a bit on a warm side but I wouldn't give it a second look.

ref item 17. Cooling the iDeq cube. Forgot to mention:- This piece of gear has 92 holes each 15mm x 3mm EACH side of unit. It is near an open window. has three fans and still no difference in temps! Might be a better idea if case manufacturers did the obvious thing (us too) drill holes in the base of a case adn raise the case about an inch or so above a surface. Any one fancy a go?

I've answered this several times before. Abbreviated version: Reseat HS w/ good thermal paste. Increase airflow (more fans, or even remove a side), put computer in cooler environment (pref. w/ AC), clean everything off to remove dust.
