Slow cpu fan

hi,
i have a prescott 3 ghz cpu, which gets over 56 degrees when im doin nothing. I read about cpu cooling a lot on this web site, and it seems the best idea is to buy a new HS a cpu fan, zalman sounds good. Right now i have the in stock intel fan and heatsink, which sucks! But i noticed the cpu fan only went 2400 something, instead of 5000 which intel says it does. What am i doing wrong? is there some way i can change the speed of it?

Thanx in advance!

you can try a fan controlling program, but your best bet would be to buy a new HS.

thanx for helping me out

i just assembled the computer so i havent installed an OS yet, just looking in the BIOS. Was gonna do it today, but my old floppy drive apparently doesnt work (one pin is missing). Interesting how ur friends computers idle temp was over 50c but didnt get a lot warmer under load... hopes its the same for me!

I also think my best shot is to buy a new HS. Is there any special one u could recommend? i want a good one, but not the absolutely most expensive one.
