On the cooling side, I bought the Noctua because I read on overclocking forums that it cooled just as much or better than liquid systems. It easily shaves off 20 degrees Celsius. But I am neither gaming nor running overly CPU-hungry applications.
The monster heatsink is gorgeous to look at (at least if you enjoy looking at big machines). I didn't know anything about heatsinks before. When you see this thing, the explanations make sense: a huge surface area in order to allow the heat to dissipate in the air, and fans to move the heat off those fins.
