Clarification on AMD's performance rating
Hi guys and gals, and people smarter than me.
I've read a PC book last year all about how to build a PC.
In it it mentioned AMD's performance rating it gives to it's CPU's.
AMD Phenom X4 9500
Being a good example.
Now the book is from 2006 and so is dated but the author says that the performance rating that they give their cpu's is what the cpu is capable of in comprassion to an Intel cpu.
So my question is has AMD changed this since the book was written or is the Phenom the equivent to a 9.5 Intel cpu?
If it is not can you explain it to me? as the AMD websites IA sucks beyond belief and I will get the answer quicker from you guys and gals rather than spending days looking for it on there.
It is probably a dumb question so you are entitled to laugh
but I have just gotten round to updating my CPU and it's just something that crossed my mind.
