CPU not working(starting problems)

HI
its been 2 days since the problem started,
when i start the comp, all thats working are fans, it keeps to try reading the cd rom and burner and thats it
sometimes, there is gonna be a beep evry 4 seconds or so
other times(quite rarely) only one beep and goes into the bios menu and it says that in the last boot , the cpu speed was problematic and shows cpu speed in the 1100s out of 2 option, that and one in the 1500s, when i exit the menu, the comp goes on as it would normally
not matter what option of the 2 i choose, the next time i turn off the comp, the same problem comes back

i have a 1800+ athlon, please help me.

Need more information.

Look for your motherboard manual and see if it contains a list of beep codes-- that will tell you what the beeps mean during the Power On Self Test (POST).

POST does a basic check of the system to ensure everything is there before trying to run the system up.

You have an intermittant problem, it seems, but will likely become permanent soon, so let's see if we can figure out what you need to replace.
