As the machine is on a domain, it could be an issue with your user profile. Does it take an age to boot and login ?
    The No Ma'am commandments:

1.) It is O.K. to call hooters 'knockers' and sometimes snack trays
2.) It is wrong to be French
3.) It is O.K. to put all bad people in a giant meat grinder
    4.) Lawyers, see rule 3
5.) It is O.K. to drive a gas guzzler if it helps you get babes
6.) Everyone should car pool but me
7.) Bring back the word 'stewardesses'
8.) Synchronized swimming is not a sport
9.) Mud wrestling is a sport

Try creating a new user profile and see if it boots any quicker. How many mapped drives do you have on the machine ?

From what I know Win XP on default do not support more then 3GB of Ram even though it claim that i will support up to 4GB

Extra changes need to be done to enable it.

But for most computer shop, they will advise that you install Win Vista or Win 7

If you are interested on changing the configuration then you may check out Microsoft website. Just google with key word "Memory Support and Windows Operating Systems"

P/s : Sorry. I am new user and cannot post URL.
