    Need Help With 2600+


    Hello ive just bought the msi KT4AV mobo, 512DDR Mb at 333Mhz and the Amd Athlon 2600+ barton chip and when i go to change the FSB for the processor to 166Mhz and restart i get nothing the comp turns on but get nothing on screen and no beeps. Ive heard theres 3 types of these chips and have tryed all 3 bios settings and still nothing i am at a loss if you can help me id be very greatful. Thanks

    Post more system specs, its possible the problem is not the fsb speed at all.

    well im running this on the board amd 2600+, 120gig 7200rpm maxtor hard drive with a 20gig 7200rpm western digital hard drive, 64meg mx440 geforce graphic card and 512DDR mb and all this worked fine in my last comp.

    Do you have another cpu you can try, or another computer you can try this cpu in? Also try different ram if you can, check all connections (particularly the cpu fan) and the power supply.

    sounds to me like fsb to high - are u trying to over clock that cpu?

    microsofts butterfly is their way off telling u their systems have a **** load of buggs

    after trying the memory in another board i found out that it is totaly screwed and as for the FSB i found out the chip is a thoroughbred so i put the FSB to 133Mhz to run at 2.13Ghz seems to be fine there so ill try new memory and see what happens. Thanks
