Help Choosing CPU, Motherboard and Graphics Card

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a Core2 Duo CPU and supporting motherboard and graphics card.

Can someone enlighten me on the differences between
- E6550, E6750, and E6850 CPU?
- P45, X38, X48 Chipset?

I will be using this machine as a workstation and not for gaming.
Can someone recommend a graphics adaptor suitable for my purpose?

Any suggestion will be helpful.
Thanks.

for the processor, higher number is generally higher speed.

The chipset control what kind of devices you can plug-in, for example is P45 the newest among you list, with support of PCI-E 2.0 and up to 16 GB DDR 3 RAM.

If you don't want to use it for games, you should be able to find a motherboard with onboard graphic card.
