New OCZ ram won't overclock

Ok folks, PLEASE help me with this one.
I have an Asus P4C800-E mobo, P4 2.6C @ 3.25GHz (250mhz), and OCZ PC4000 dual channel 512MB. In the BIOS, the memory clock choices are as follows:
-266
-320
-400
-Auto

I put it on "auto", since I am wanting to go higher than 400. Well, when I run Sandra or CPU-Z, it's telling me it's running at 166x2. Um... that seems to be 333mhz. So I went back to BIOS and put it at 400MHz. It won't boot. Restarted, put it back to AUTO, and now here I am. It's still running at 333 or whatever. What is the deal? Shouldn't it be running at 500 since I have the bus at 250? Someone please help.
