Opteron 64 X2 or Athlon 64 X2?

I'm currently torn between getting either of these cpu's. Bear in mind that my motherboard has a 939 socket so i can't really get to the high end athlons and i'm only going to need the extra performance for gaming.

If i had a AMD Opteron 64 X2 185 (2.6Ghz) and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.2Ghz. which one would give me the best fps in world of warcraft, battlefield or any high-end game?

Also if they were the same clock speed, which one would be better? and why?

Grateful for any clarification .

the opteron should be the best of those two, but try compare the price too

but why this post, and not just stay with this, especially when talking about fps and game, where graphic card and ram does have a great impact too.

if you make a sub-specialist-question-post, make a reference to the another, so you people don't post same answer both place

The opteron is faster, and at the same clock speed the opteron is better (and more expensive), but not faster

The athlon X2 and the opteron X2 are essentially the same chip, the difference is they put an "opteron" sticker on the opteron and call it server grade, server grade means a better warranty and a better chance that its going to work, so its generally been through more stringent quality control, because of this the opterons will often overclock better then the athlon chips

The exception is the opteron on the server sockets (socket 940 and socket F), these CPUs support extra features useful in a server environment but not really useful for the home user, this means they they take buffered RAM can can do ECC, both of which slow down the RAM and make it more reliable, but this stuff is not present on a socket 939 or AM2 opteron
