How can you tell if a CPU is fried?
I have a AMD XP 2400+ cpu that I recently thought I burned up. I have a new one now but want to sell the old one on ebay. How can I tell if a CPU is fried? When I 1st used the old cpu it made werd noises and smelled. Then the computer tuned off. (I later found out the heat sink wasn't working right.) Could it be trash or can I sell a working cpu?

It is absolutely NOT working, and no you cannot sell it on eBay. That smell is the number one sign it fried, and it is definietely a goner.
NOTE: And do not try to test it by putting it into your MoBo. A fried CPU will very easily fry the MoBo (happened to me before), and thusly could fry anything else in your PC.
