CPU running at half speed, 2.8ghz to 1.3ghz
Ok so something went wrong with my computer a couple of weeks ago, get a new motherboard, everything looks to be working fine. Get into one of my games and whoa fps are like 9-15, so I start broswing around my computer files and notice under system specs that I only have 1.3ghz.
Now I have in my pc at the moment
- A 2.8 ghz athalon cpu
- A athalon motherboard which runs up to 2.8 ghz
- 1 gb of ram
- and a 120 gb hardrive
Anyone have any sujestions what have gone wrong, I moved the jumpers about but that made no difference.
(Be patient I'm new to ferreting around in my pc )

Don't think AMD makes 2.8ghz cpus, you probably have a 2800+, which runs at more like 2.08ghz. The problem is likely that the fsb is set to the wrong speed (should probably be 333mhz (166x2)). Its probably controlled by a jumper on the mobo or in the bios, look in the manual.

my guess is that it is a jumper in the mobo and a setting in the bios.

Once again as ive replied in many posts. Most Mobo's exspecially athlon has the fsb set at 100mhz(Safe mode) Athlon 2800+ i believe needs to be set to 166mhz which = 333 i believe. This will make your computer speed back to normal.
