    Woodcrest vs Conroe

Tring to determine performance difference in the two. My application of the the CPU's will be in a server box running windows 2003. The applications it will be running is gaming servers like half-life, raven-shield, etc. I want to compair the performance/cost of the Conroe E6600 ~ $330 2.4ghz and the woodcrest 5130 ~ $340 2.0ghz

would the conroe not ut preform the woodcrest??

on a single CPU system the desktop CPU is going to have better performance/price, the server CPU has extra features like ECC and mutli-CPU support that add money but not much performance, so the only real difference between those two CPUs is the speed, 2.4Ghz vs 2.0Ghz and the FSB, 1Ghz vs 1.3Ghz

that increased FSB is going to add some speed, but i doubt its enough to overcome the difference in core clock speed, the biggest difference to you would probably be that a motherboard that works with the woodcrest will be upgradable to quad-core fairly soon
