System around Rs.50000/$1000
Hi,
I have P4,3.06GHZ,2GB RAM,SIS VGA bought 3 years back.I am developer working on enterprise application(ERP,CRM...)...The deal is I am working from home now. I definitely need a faster machine.I have about 15-20 windows open like 2-3 Visual Studio,3-4 Firefox(with 15-18 tabs each),IE,couple of notepads,2-3 acrobat reader, Outlook,Word,excel...:crybaby: Lot of stuff actually. And P4 is definitely not up to it. Since I am working from home I am in the Stock market as well sine I get some time in the day so there is more windows for that as well. Also I game a little online.
So that was why need a good machine. My budget is about Rs.50000/$1000.
I thought about core i7,but it is expensive for me with the mobo( it goes with X48 only). So I thought I would go for a Quad(...may be Q9300/Q9400 or something better, within my range).I want 500 GB HD,22" monitor,4GB RAM,decent graphics card as well .Also I want to future proof it a little may for next 3-4 years.
Also where do I get it from in India.Would it be cheaper if I order the parts myself then get it assembled by somebody or get the whole thing from a shop.
Really appreciate the response.Thanks.
I would really appreciate it if I

Core2duo and quads are very cheap thanks to the i7, but the AMD PhenomII chips are no slouch for the price either. Also, "decent graphics card" is a very relative term. How heavy of a gamer are you? To someone a decent card could be SLI 9800GTs. But if you want a painless system, you could go with something like this:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz - $200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
-GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 - $115

-CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - $47

-SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 - $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102801
-Antec EA650 650W - $77
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015
-Antec Three Hundred - $55
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
-Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB - $100

Monitors, you could go with:
-Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms - $160(Budget but very good)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145
or
-SAMSUNG ToC T220 Rose-Black 22" 2ms - $260(Awesome all around for clarity and response)

With the Samsung that will put you at $1,004 without any DVD/CD drives, but that's pretty much a rock solid build and will give you overclocking room if you choose to go that route. Can you go cheaper? Sure, but it will get to a point to where you can risk overall reliability to save a few bucks. And I prefer to spend a bit more and get quality rated equipment rather than wait on 3 parts to come back from RMA. But again, due to your location those prices could very well be inflated since Newegg is pretty much the king of US PC parts and I have no idea what the overall availability is like over there.
