Angry Dell shutting off and on

I have a Dell Desktop. Everything has been working ok. I swithed from ATT to Comcast for my internet (higher speed). I logged on and it was fine. This morning when I turned it on, it keeps shutting off and on with a beep and something that looks like a green can flashes on when the beep sounds (on the front of the computer) tower. I tried a new power cord and different outlets but nothing has worked. Any ideas what could be wrong...other than something in the motherboard? Thank you for your help.

The green can is probably the symbol representing the hard drive, and being lit means there is hard drive activity. Which is normal.

So you turn it on. How far does it get before "shutting off"? Does it actually turn off (the fans turn off too) or does it reset? Exactly when does the beep sound and is it just one?

Could it be a heating issue? That can sometimes cause such problems. If not it is probably a battery or a motherboard issue
