    css for table cell and NS4.x

    I know very little about css, and borrowed most of the below from a friend. I created my own td.stats class (at the bottom) for table cells. It does NOT work in NS4.x, but DOES work in IE. This creates a LOT of unwanted spacing in the tables containing <td class="stats">. Any idea what NS doesn't like, and better still, a solution to retain rather tightly spaced text within my table cells.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    PHP Code:
     A:LINK color#000099;}
    A:VISITED color#666666;}
    A:HOVER {COLOR#ff9910;}

    H8 {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#191D4F; margin-bottom: 1px; margin-top: 1px;}
    H6 {font15px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#009442; font-weight: 900; line-height: 10px; margin-bottom: 1px; margin-top: 1px;}
    H4 {font13px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#009442; font-weight: 800;}
    H3 {font15px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#009442; font-weight: 900;}
    {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#191D4F; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-top: 5px;}
    .small {font11px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#191D4F; }
    .splash {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#191D4F; line-height:18px; }
    .fitzheader {font15px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#009442; font-weight: 900; line-height: 15px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-top: 5px;}
    .fitzheader2 {font13px verdanaarialsans-serifcolor#009442; font-weight: 700; line-height: 13px; margin-bottom: 1px; margin-top: 1px;}

    td.stats {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifmargin-bottom5pxmargin-top5px;}
    ...

    great link

    That link was very helpful adios.
    I did not have to use your javascript, but I can see how it would be very handy.

    for anyone who ONLY has the td.class problem like I did, I just replaced:
    PHP Code:
     td.stats {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifmargin-bottom5pxmargin-top5px;}
    with
    PHP Code:
    td.stats {font12px verdanaarialsans-serifmargin-bottomexmargin-topex;}
    seems to have solved my problem.

    thanks.

    Not exactly a solution. 'ex' is a unit of measurement; by specifying it without any value, you've simply deactivated it (unless there's some bug there I'm unaware of). You just made my point for me, by dispensing with some presumably desirable CSS for the sake of the increasingly tinier Navigator 4 audience.

    You can also - easily - script in individual style rules, browser-specific, in the document header.

    What's an 'H8'?
