    CSS and tables

    Hi
My web page layout is done with a table - tried and failed to do it with CSS - many unfruitful hours, when it worked in IE it didn't in NS and vice versa.
    Anyway, my question is this:
When I use absolute position (or relative position) on a div which is situated inside a cell of a table, is the cell <td> the parent housing the div, or is it the table, or is it the <body> of the page? To what is my positioning referencing? Do the laws of CSS still apply to divs etc situated in tables?
    thanks
    david

The <TD> element is the parent of your <DIV>
    The <TD>'s parent's parent is the <TABLE>.
