    Need A Free HTML/CSS Editor

    -------
    Nov 6, 2003

As a new website developer I have been using the free and excellent "1st Page 2000" HTML editor. However, I am now looking for a free HTML AND CSS editor - is there a good free one out there?

I recently read about "Amaya" and "Price Media's Cascade DTP" which are both free. Would anyone like to share their experience with and opinions of these two free tools? Is there something better that is free?

Perhaps you can try HTMLKit. They offer a lot of tools and plugin, such as Javascript plugin and so forth. Currently I am using it.

You can go to http://www.chami.com/html-kit/ to check it out.

    Offeres syntax highlighting, code assist.

I've played with Amaya, it's good because it's standards compliant, however the interface is a little tricky.

Topstyle Lite is a great free CSS editor, gives previews and has code-completion tools. Fast and intuitive.

I've used a variety of IDE's but I still think that Textpad and a browser is the best.

    Have fun,
