    Image is not clickable within div

    Hi

    I have the following div code for a linked-image

    <div id="banner">
    <a href="/"><img src="/images/header1.jpg"></a>
    </div>

    the css for banner is as follow

    #banner {width : 960px; height : 100px; left : 0; top : 0; position:absolute}

    but this image is not clickable. I checked the source code for this page and it does show the linked image but the image is not clickable.

    can anybody shed some light on this?

    If this issue still needs to be resolved, your not using a valid doctype.

    site is based on a cms and complex ppc tracking application. it is not possible for me to validate it 100% with standards. I tried loose instead of strict but still the same problem. Also the problem is only in Firefox it works fine for opera and IE.

    ok, i have fixed it. In fact another div was overlapping this div. I used z-index to bring it above the other div and now it is working fine.

    thanks all for your help

    Advice is better taken when the person giving advice actually follows their own advice...
    you could use some validation as well

    To the OP:
    The ListApart site talks about the DOCTYPE info pretty well, but imo, Quirksmode covers the info fantastically and with great examples of why certain docs work, and what browsers it affects. No offense towards you bals28mjk.

    Zero0efx, you probably don't know this, though you should since you were posting in the thread, I'm remaking my website, why would I validate something that's about to be extinct? I guess I'll have to put a new design up. Either that or know what you're talking about. Sigh, ok my new (yet unfinished design) is up. Not finished yet since zer0efx wants it up badly...

    I figured you would say that and it's understandable... But 'best practice' is to do it right the first time, otherwise you continue to write code incorrectly, and you spend more time in the end, re-validating. As you get older you will learn/discover that aspect and time management.

    For me, I don't know much about the validation, I basically learned what the validator will throw at me, unless I'm coding something I'm not used to.

    Validation

    I just hate how <p> spaces out my forms...might try line-height: 0;....
