Z-index & flash file (Getting element to overlay on flash)

    Please look at this page

    http://www.tmhdesign3.com

    and this one

    http://www.tmhdesign3.com/real-estate-broker.asp

The first one used a flash file, the second does not.

On the first page I want the dropdown navigation to overlay on the flash but it does not. I played with z-index to no success...

Plugins, including Flash, don't always obey z-index.

There was a bug in the Gecko engine (Firefox et al), and a bug in the Flash application that prevent windowless rendering in X (Linux/Mac). The KHTML engine (Konqueror/Safari) has a dirty fix that gets around the Flash bug. Mozilla has fixed the Gecko bug, but Adobe has not yet fixed its end (as of Flash 9.0r115). Mozilla reports that Adobe is working on it. Mozilla either chose not to, or cannot apply the dirty fix for technical reasons.

    See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137189

It's still a good plan to avoid the conflict in the first place.

    cheers,
