There was a bug in the Gecko engine (Firefox et al
), and a bug in the Flash application that prevent windowless rendering in X (Linux/Mac). The KHTML engine (Konqueror/Safari) has a dirty fix that gets around the Flash bug. Mozilla has fixed the Gecko bug, but Adobe has not yet fixed its end (as of Flash 9.0r115). Mozilla reports that Adobe is working on it. Mozilla either chose not to, or cannot apply the dirty fix for technical reasons.
It's still a good plan to avoid the conflict in the first place.
There are those who manage to build a web site without knowing what they're doing; thereby proving to themselves they do, indeed, know what they're doing.
