Choosing applications server - criteria
Hi
I'm trying to choose Java compatable application server to manage data from an Oracle database to webservers. We need to get the hardware and software. We're looking at Websphere, Weblogic and Oracle using the following criteria. Any thoughts? 1. Cost 2. MSUs/sec 3. Initial deployment (how hard / how long) 4. Re-deployment (additional and new EJBs) 5. IDE - deployment tool - CVS - performance monitoring 6. Meantime to failure 7. Support - user groups - documentation - journal subscription What does everyone think of these criteria? Without this sort of thing it's difficult to talk to Clients. Our site is about 5000 unique users per hour, they are mainly conducting searches. J |

My advice is to take a look at JBOSS which is FREE&OPEN (and PROFESSIONALLY SUPPORTED) and works great.
The good IDE is JBUILDER Enterprise, but Eclipse is nice also.
