convert dBASE to MS access?

Hi,
I'd like to know how I can convert dBASE databases to MS access databases. There's something in access File -> Migration tools -> importing thing (not sure of the names), though I don't know if they work well, nor if it can't import dBASE. I don't have access installed, it would be for a student job (or vacation job, don't know how it's said in english). Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Ludootje

The basic way to do it is very simple: Create a blank Access database, and then go to File->Get External Data->Import. This choice will then open up a file browser dialog, where you can choose which type of file you want to import, and where the file exists. So, just choose DBase in the "Files of Type" drop-down, and browse for your .DBF files. Bring them in one at a time, and they will become tables in your Access database. This will not do anything at all to the DBase files; it just reads the data and creates native Access tables in your database.

Further DbaseIV question

Hi There - thanks for a great post on how to move the data from dbaseiv to access. I have another part to my question. The database that I have had someone - pls forgive my improper nomenclature - writing 'apps' / 'command structures' that manipulate the data. Is there a way for me to bring those things over? Is there a way (running windows 7 and have a copy of the dbiv directory on my machine) to open those to see what commands were running? Essentially I have been asked to take this OLD DBIV program and upgrade them to Access so that it can be used in newer environments and I have a very tight deadline...so any help is MUCH APPRECIATED!
