new to this forum so Hello to all.
I have a text database I would like to use with my Search Engine site ( i will be using Smartsearch) and they tell me I can have my own database incorporated into the engine. I cant for the life of me get it to work so here is how I set it up and if any one could help I would be so greatful. data|is put|inlines|such as|this but I|donot|know|exactly how| I have a file called "vars.cgi" that asked for the full url to the DB_file So I call it like so... URL I have tried the following permissions on the server inside the cgi folder.... 666,777.755,644 and nothing seems to work. I get an INTERNAL SERVER ERROR. Please try and help me. or if you could point me to a nice tutorial site on these type databases and permissions. |

Hi!
You don't know what exactly caused the 500 ERROR, do you? Before looking into database issues I'd examine vars.cgi. Is it running at all (with other input than your texts file's url)? Regards, Atrus.

Check the permissions on your smartsearch directory, make sure it's executable by all. You could also try putting your file.txt in the root of your site to see if that makes a difference.
