Help with database
I am new to the database aspects of web design and I am trying to do something I thought would be pretty simple....Not the case
I have created a simple "Sign up for Newsletter" form. I have tried everything. I know how to use Access so I created a database and tried to place it on the server and link it with an ASP page....No dukes... I then found my hosting provided supports MySQL and PHP, Unix server I guess that is better to clearly define it. It has a great interface PHP Admin area to work with the MySQL database but I have not a clue. I purchased a PHP and MySQL book and have been reading every post I could find on the subject and they all are too advanced for what I am doing. I have changed the permissions for the folder to 777 so I am stuck. If anyone could please take me under their wing using MySQL and PHP with a database for the purpose I have described...or just kick me in the right direction. Thanks for any help, Jason Sanchez |

I might suggest installing a great tool that automates a lot of mySQL processes. phpAdmin.
http://www.phpmyadmin.net/ It's a free tool that creates a web interface to building and editing mySQL databases. Now if you're doing a php page, are you able to create a simple query to pull some data? I'm just not sure what level you're at... :-) Trevor |
