importing new members into databases

hello newbie question for anyone. I have a website that has a admin area where i can add new members to the website, I heard there is a database i think it called mysql that the actual members are stored in on the server. My question is how do i see this list of members that are stored in the database and is it possible to add say 100 new members without having to go to my admin area and do each one at a time. I sure would like to add all 100 members at a time instead.

Thank you
