Hi, I have developed a MS Access 2000 database. And I'm using data access pages (html) to insert data in it. The database is on a simple fileserver (like in my case Z:/Database/). The pages work just fine on Windows 2000 and IE5.0, but the problems starts when some clients installed Windows XP and IE6.0
They then get an error message saying sth like "The Object or Service could not perform the specify task". Seems like the browser have problems connecting to the database? (Security issue?) Another thing is that when I start Access2000 on XP and then click directly on the data access page (insertdata.htm) from there it works just fine! Any ideas what the problem might be??? |

I am having the exact same problem described here with XP. If I put the files on my C:/ drive on an XP machines they'll work but not from the file server on an XP machine. Using Windows 98 I have no problems at all.....if anyone has a solution I would also like to know!

I figured out the solution some time ago. It's quite simple:
Go to tools->Propeteries for Internet->Security->Intranet and click the button for defining you'r own settings, set all ActiveX options to "Activate". That did the trick here. ![]() Hope it helps! |

Try setting all the security levels to low, I'm pretty sure the problem lies in what version/setup/security you'r browser has. Compare you'r W98 IE security settings with the one in XP.
Hope you figure it out! |
