SAP Anybody?
Hey guys,
In my mind, and I might be totally wrong, Oracle has been "the database", you know, the real thing - really standing alone in this place with only maybe SAP with enough credentials to take over it ( yet I have no clue as to why I think this way since I have never been close to any SAP installation ). So I was quite excited to find out that the SAP DB product has gone open source. ( http://www.sapdb.org ). For the last month I 've been looking over Postgresql as to move some applications into it - so far so good - but before migrating I would like to dig a little into SAP. Has somebody had any experience with it? Places to go to look for info? Comments greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

The big one from SAP AG is SAP R/3, an ERP system, deployed on Oracle in most cases, SAPDB is a database, derived from Adabas, which is very powerful and opensource, but it's still quite far from Oracle 9 or IBM DB2.
