Mission Critical Databases
Anyone know about DB2 and how it handles mission critical databases? How do they do it? What utilities does it use?
Thanks |

Can you be anymore vague about what your asking?
If I had to guess at what you are asking, I'd say your asking about the retrieval of data where you can't afford to have equipment/software failure. In that sense, your looking at multiple servers with synchronous replication and heartbeat failovers so near instant startup of a failed hardware/software happens. |

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, Basically I am doing research on database vendors and comparing their technologies. So, i'm trying to find out what DB2 has in terms of providing high available data. And what technologies or utilities is uses to have high available data with less down time... |

Well, as I said before, your looking at synchronous replication with at least 2 or more servers with a heartbeat failover which is server functionality not the database.
