Is there any free downloadable Delphi compilder out there?
if it is, where can I get one?
Real Programmers use C since it's the easiest language to spell

It's called Kylix. If you use the standard CLX components that come with Delphi, your code will be relatively portable to Linux. Note the emphasis on "relatively", because there are still some OS specific things like path-names (Linux doesn't have drive names in the path), case-sensitivity to file names (Linux is case-sensitive to file names, Windows isn't), renaming the DFM files to XFM etc. However, the majority of your code should be portable if you stick to the Delphi CLX components and the differences can be easily resolved when porting over the application.

Well, on the Borland site, Delphi personal is available at
http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_delphi.html and it is a free download. Off the top of my head provisos, you cannot develop commercial apps, and little database support. Good to get your feet wet.

The linux complier, Kylix, is at
    http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_kylix.html
and is open source. Also comes with a C++ compiler.

For both of these, you'll need to register with the Borland Developer Network to download.

For the most excellent open source support for Delphi and Kylix as well as some FreePascal, the JEDI organization (Joint Endeavor of Delphi Innovators) can be found at:
    http://delphi-jedi.org/

I use and trust a lot of Borland and Jedi stuff. (Been using Borland since the SideKick and TurboPascal 1.0 8 bit days.....)
