i am using delphi 7 and whenever i try to reset or rewrite the message, ' Project so and so raised exception class EInOutError with message 'file not found'. i am using a book, and following exact examples, but the same error message keeps occuring.

Rewrite what message? Also check that your pathname to the file is correct.
