New update. Get it from the usual place.

Changes:
  • No longer pretends to allow deposit/withdraw negative amounts
  • Improved keyboard navigation on battle screen and main form
  • Bug where retreat button wouldn't show close/rematch buttons so you'd be stuck on battle screen
  • Enter key on captcha entry will now just save the captcha and move focus to start battle button rather than start a battle right away
  • Fixed bug where all controls on main form could be disabled if battle didn't start (eg incorrect captcha)
  • Possible to change monsters with keyboard.
  • Change battle history to use a system color so it will theme correctly.

I am concerned about one thing. With the keyboard improvements you could just get the enter key to stick down and walk away while your character levels up. Then if you choose your bot carefully just use the money you made when you get back to heal up and go again. Any ideas for how to break this and still have good usability? I'm thinking moving the focus to the taunt box rather than the weapon button after clicking 'fight again'.

If that happens you can finish the battle by using the regular web interface. I've seen that a couple times and haven't been able to track it down yet, but I can tell you that the html generated around HP and MA values can get very ugly when it gets in the yellow and orange. Sometimes they will repeat the same style several times. tsk tsk tsk. It makes my job parsing it out very hard. In the mean time I think I'll add a link to where you can go to finish the battle to the error message.

New Arena client update. Here's what's changed:
  • Put Heal on Battlescreen
  • Maybe (occurs too rarely to test well) fix bug where history message at the end of a battle was wrong.
  • Focus set to taunt box after choosing "Fight Again", to prevent "hold down the enter key" style automation.
Note with healing- the client normally doesn't check what's in your pocket during battle until after you leave the battle screen. So the client won't let you try to heal with money you've earned during a series of battles. ie, say you want to heal 400 points after several battles, and you've earned enough gold from that session to cover it. The client will withdraw the money from the bank anyway. If you didn't previous have enough to cover it, you will have to exit the battle screen and go back, or heal for a smaller amount. The client does up date the banking stats after healing.

Also, judging from the Top10 page, I might be the only one still playing. In that case, this will probably be the last update, though things may run their course and we people start using the arena again when logd is less 'new'.

Full source code is available as usual, and well as a binary and an msi installer.

Looks like the original Arena Client thread got culled. Try looking here. That link came by checking my attachments in the control panel. If it doesn't work post back and I'll re-upload it.

I haven't updated this thing in ages, and last time I tried to use it it crashed after a couple battles, so they may have changed the underlying html a bit. Good luck.
