I'm just kinda bummed, because I'm level 2 and when fighting other level 2 monsters they tend to hit me about twice as much as I hit them. So I consistently lose to creatures at the same level even though my gems help me start one or two points higher. If I can get a win it's by using my sidekick ability on the first fight of the day.

Gems? Then you are a Gnome? Ive never tried to play as them. I can tell you from experience that Trolls and Klingons are good. But each race has its own perks.

I observe that the disconnected phenomenon happens when I open another window and browse the forums. But that's not the case every time.

I don't have a personal firewall on my PC but I'm behind a corporate firewall.

Yes, I am a gnome (I didn't intend to be, but I clicked on gnome hoping just to get more info and it wouldn't let me back-track).

Here's what I mean by not being able to hit much:

Fie halts just before delivering the final blow, and instead extends a hand to help you to your feet, and hands you a complementary healing potion.
You should have known you were no match for my Short Sword

I started that battle with 21 hp, and only hit him once. Our levels are equal, and I'm only supposed to need 400xp to be able to challenge him (I have > 500).
