My weapon is currnelty (and looks to be remaining for a loooooooong time) a 4:3. It would seem my major issue is getting on at odds times at work (I can manage to see 3 'days' normally) but I cannot always use up all forest fights/actions so getting more from DKs would be a waste.

Hah - you're lucky, you can loose permanent hitpoints, but not usually as high as 43 at a time.

Trying to keep my alignment up; I just had to run from 6 out of my first 8 fights for the day, and run again three fights later. And this on the next day after running 4 times, only finding monster all day that raised my alignment, and still dropping 6 points for not paying attention.

You're doing it wrong. Thrillseek level 15, I think the only alignment-changing monster (unless you get really unlucky and fight a level 14) is vampirius and he gives you positive alignment. I've gone from -250 to 100 fairly quickly doing that.

Whatever. I might lose a point but if I do a full turn at level 15 I'll gain 30-40.

My goddammit for the day: I accidentally pressed "Attack the Shaman" the other day in the dino world (I was trying to pick flowers). Not only did I lose the fight, but now everybody in the village screams at me for having fought him...

This is how I got my alignment up before Rich added the newest of the new features. I haven't tried since these have been added, so what I'm about to tell you may not work as effectively as it once did. I would play at level 1 for as long as possible, which on some days was nearly the full 4 hours. Why? Ah - good question. Although, not too good for leveling, I did find it very good for letting me play for longer. Playing for longer means you are having more turns. Having more turns means you are generating more gems. Having more gems . . . nah - that's an obvious one. The fight option I selected was 'Look for something to kill' - *not* 'Thrillseeking'. Why? Because you get flawless fights more consistently. On one occassion, I started the day with 14 turns after being resurrected and managed to get my turns up to 52 turns. How? Flawless fights and drinking in the pub at the docks. This is what I've found out about drinking at the docks - if you go to the docks and get a drink immediately after the last fight in which you had a drink buzz, then more-often-than-not you will only be able to buy one drink. *BUT* if you wait two full fights after the buzz fades, then you can be guaranteed two drinks on one proviso: - at least one of the two fights requires at least two blows to win it. That's it. Note though, I always had full health in every fight. I topped up my health religiously, even if I'd only lost 1 hitpoint and still had 399. I didn't take any numbers down about it, but it seemed to me that if you didn't have full health then you ended up getting less flawless fights. So, I just habitutally got health - it's free anyway at level 1, so why not? Good question - one of the reasons why not is because one of the new things that Rich added punishes you for having full health - which I have already posted about how ridiculous I find that. The punishment is the loss of 1 turn. Even still, I think that this intermittent nuisance is of little concern - just a kink in the armour. Very often, I would die on my first day fighting the first doppleganger of the day. But, once resurrected, things would more-often-than-not run a lot smoother. There were, of course, occassions when the second doppleganger killed me aswell, but most of the time, the second doppleganger would leave me with 1 hitpoint. What really annoyed me was when you got the second doppleganger first and vice-versa. Why? Because, you can't leave the forest and return to the village because you'll be autochallenged and my aim was to stay at level 1 for as long as possible. Maybe some of you noticed? I was a pigpen quite a lot and that's how it happened. I would stay in the forest, get past the 1st dopplganger and then get killed at the second one - 100% smelly - resurrect and be awarded the beautiful title, PigPen. Grr! So, maybe one or two of you are noticing that I haven't once mentioned alignment? No? Well, I haven't mentioned it. Why? It was merely a side-effect of doing the above. I wasn't seeking alignment, but doing the above - which is what I did to get gems together - generated alignment for me. That's it, that's all, no more. I haven't been doing that lately because I have taken two people's adivce and put them together. I had an alignment of 1,100 and I was a Viking using Chromancy. But, taking f'lar's advice, I gave using the Paladin Gifts a go. Thanks for the tip f'lar, one of the areas of the game I haven't investigated is the different races and specialities. The Paladin Gifts provide one 'Use Point' per 10 points of alignment. [On a side note, being a Titan you get one extra turn per 5 points of alignment]. There is a drawback to using Paladin Gifts - you loose 20 alignment points each dragon kill. My alignment dropped to 1,020 over 10 dragon kills before I thought it was time to get a few alignment points back, at which point I decided to take gimp's advice - thanks for that, didn't know it either. He posted it above - level 15 thrillseeking. Since I started using Paladin Gifts and fighting at level 15 thrillseeking and not running away from any fight *ever*, I have managed to get my alignment up to 1,369, but it has taken me a very large number of days. With this 'boring' time (ie: not leveling), I have concentrated my efforts on the Cedrick Quests (In nearly every situation there is a silver lining )So folks, that's nearly all that I know about the game. Most people will be aware of most, if not all of this, but for future beginners this will be a real help or a real spolier. Oh - I forgot to say - the drink in the pub at the docks is always *Ale*. |

I do most of that stuff, too. I might do 150 fights on the first day after a dragon kill, and gain > 20 alignment. Unfortunately, that's not typical. I get picked on by the 12 year old kids too much to be able to stay at level 1 long- they'll drain any extra max HP I've earned and then kill me. And by day 2 I'm forced to fight my master and I'll keep going so I jump to around level 5. Unfortunately, levels 6-10 are always a pain to get through, with evil monsters being scarce, good monsters coming up fairly often. some of the good monsters will cost me 4 or 5 alignment points, but the reverse doesn't happen with the evil monsters. If I don't run from fights in that period I can easily lose all the gains I made at level 1 and then some.

This is what I do, courtesy of the salamander amulet.
Start off with drinking two shots of *rum*. Not ale. Thrillseek. After 5 (rarely 6) fights, you get another drink. Repeat as often as possible. Level up as much as you can. I might start with 55 turns and end up with 45-50 once my salamander runs out (200! rounds). I have a nice amount of hp (lower than 1k now that I stopped using gems to up it), so I never get killed (except when I'm looking to get killed, or something gets a lucky shot off and hits me for 1k). Courtesy of salamander, I get level 1-15 in a day. Next day, just thrillseek thrillseek thrillseek, don't worry about turns, use some up on a quarry/woods/lost ruins. When I have 5 rounds of salamander left I kill the dragon (pushover, thank you salamander). I'm a barbarian viking. This means that every dk is 15 hp from being a barbarian. Unfortunately, the skills suck (mighty rage gives you 40 attack but that won't help against the dragon when he has 3k hp and you've got 900), but thanks to salamander I won't need it. Now, I rely on salamander a lot, but if it gets taken (which would be nice, it's so boring I stopped playing almost), I'll just switch specialty to chronomancy or dark arts, with which I'll be able to down the dragon without too much of a problem (top skill stops it from attacking, plus you get riposte on it). I won't be able to go 1-15 but I should be able to make a 1-2 day dk (1-8, 8-15). 20 extra def offsets the fact that monsters have become too strong (150 hp at level 1? Damn). Flar, try spending 100 gems every dk on health. 50 hp should last you a dk. And by the way, 50 turns with pyramids at level 10 gets you: 50 base turns 10 turns off of that (drinking rum) 2 turns off of that (drinking rum) 62 turns gets you: 62 x level x 10 exp from pyramids (minimum 6.2k, but considering the fact you're leveling up it'll be around 8-9k) 62 x 300-600 exp from monsters Which will get you the last 5 levels easy.
