101 Ways To Help Save The Planet
Yes there will be drawbacks to all of them but I think it would be interesting to see lots of ideas on how to help save the planet.
1. Rich governments of the world should buy up rain forests from the likes of Brazil and Indonesia and protect them from illegal and excessive logging. |

ouch. Talk about trampling the rights of a sovreign nation. Besides - wouldn't that require the other country to actually want to sell?
This could be interesting, though. We have to remember that every action comes with consequence. So, creating mass-transit systems that run on electricity means strip-mining for copper to power the electric motors. My contribution - 2. Create an aggressive green percentage to increase carbon-scrubbing foliage in densely-populated areas. 3. Stop seeing alternative energy sources as a mutually-exclusive list of alternatives, and talk about the right mix of renewable energy sources for a given area. 4. Encourage corporations through tax incentives to allow personnel to telecommute. 5. Encourage homebuyers, through mortgage tax credits, and developers, through other credits, to invest in geothermal heating and cooling.

6. Stop population explosion.
(There are many creative solutions that aren't viable because they fall under the category "throwing out the baby with the bathwater.") |

actually the logging is most likely happening because of out-of-control consumer demand from those same countries, unlikely their governments would step in. my suggestion? Don't allow corporations the same "rights" as people/countries have. Do a search on agreement on multi-lateral investments if you want to do some reading on it.

1. Post this garbage where it's supposed to go. Has no technical merit -> outhouse.

How many forums have you posted this on? Just curious. I know of two.

how does that help the planet ... or maybe we will get so high that we would die eventually thus providing enough "manure" so that entire forests can regenerate, and we will be one with nature
, it is also possible that we would end up in a weed itself. |

Well: First legalize it, then provide tax cuts for people complying with the weed garden guidelines. This in turn will result in a huge green boom across the states filtering out the intoxicating CO2.
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if there are already experiments out there trying to genetically manipulate plants to increase their CO2 filtering capability. |

nope humans aren't gonna change we are essentially like locusts, we grow too big for one place then move on to another, and right now, and at this pace we will soon even outgrow this planet both in terms of space and resources. The sooner we realize this the better...
I love my car, heck I don't mind going to a new planet as long I can drive my car there too. <serious> Obviously above is just a rant, but you get the point thats how people think, well the majority atleast. The only thing that can save this planet is a cheap source of renewable-energy, if that happens we won't have to worry about anything. |

Number whatever: Kill all humans.
That will save the planet, I bet you anything the world will be better then ![]()

When it comes to alternative fuels for cars, it is not a simple matter of manufacturers not creating that breed of vehicle, but of the consumers simply not purchasing that kind of vehicle. If everyone would stop buying Hummers, and only buy hybrid/hydrogen/electric (at the very least fuel efficient) vehicles, market for petroleum-consuming cars would slowly disappear. Capitalism teaches business to follow market trends. Forcing consumer interest strictly in green vehicles would give businesses the incentive to go green as well.
Yes, there are just causes for owning and operating large rugged vehicles. But a suburban housewife will never need to go to the store via a treacherous mountain pass, or cross a stream without a bridge. As technology advances, we may someday see alternative fuel engines with just as much power as our current internal combustion. |
