Advice needed: Resume needs polished wording

For my objective, I'm trying to say:

-A position in Information Systems or a non-IS field that does more or less the same stuff that IS does, like software develpment (could be under R&D, Reliability, etc).

What I currently have:

A position in Information Systems or a field employing Software Engineering
--or--
A position in Information Systems or a field related to Software Engineering

Does this sentence sound confusing or wrong? Which is better? Can I word it even better?

It has actually been the trend lately for people to not put objectives in their resumes for a few reasons. I am not sure if you are interested in going that way or not but I just figured I would give you a heads up.

As a person who has reviewed a lot of resumes and hired a lot of employees/interns in a previous career, I believe that objectives are worthless. The VERY worst are when they say something incredibly lame like:
Quote:
Objective: To obtain a position with your company

or something equally inane. That doesn't impress me one bit, and makes me think I won't be able to trust a person in an interview, because it's obvious that they are going to say what they think you want to hear.
Shorter is better- fit it on a page in a realistic font size UNLESS you are an extremely accomplished individual. Longer than that and they don't get read.
I personally think it's good to be conservative and concise in a resume, and then let your cover letter be more "cheerleader" like. I'm not a resume expert but I've reviewed a lot, so take this FWIW.

How about

A position in Information Systems or a related field

Thanks. That's what I had before I made the change last night. But honestly, I would prefer not to work in IS if possible - too many non-programming tasks. So I want to emphasize that I would also be willing to work in anything not IS. I am a CIS major, but I'm more of a CS guy, I think.

Hero Zzyzzx: I agree. I have looked through books of college resumes, and I have to say, most people's objectives sound stupid or lame. But seriously, it's hard to make it sound professional and not lame. I am actually seeking an internship, so I probably should stick with an obj.

What do you think about this?

An internship in Information Systems or a related field, where I can apply my skills of the latest technology in Web Application, Database Management, or Software Development.
