American Representatives
I was wondering…
We have two Americans working in our firm. Both have the same (horrible ) american accents and both have the same names, but that is where it ends. The first could have been a South-African, except for the fact that he can’t speak Afrikaans. He is well dressed, well spoken (meaning he always apologises when he swears in front of a girl), has good manners, and generally looks good. The second guy has long hair, which he washes once a year whether it’s dirty or not . He wears jeans which leaves you in no doubt of his gender, boots that goes over the jeans, a jacket wrapped around his waist (to look like a girl from behind), and a t-shirt with some kind of profanity written on it. He can’t say more than two words without swearing, and can’t really tell the difference between a guy and a girl (a guy in South Africa will always open the door for a girl, and allow her to walk first, but he seems to be blind to common courtesy)Anyway, since my knowledge of America is limited to what I’ve seen on TV (I know that you can’t go a day without a cop taking your car, that everybody leaves their cars unlocked with the keys in the dashboard, that there are millions of serial killers, and that all of the girls are unbelievably good looking ), I was wondering what the general population of America is like. Are you really that different from the “Boere”, or is it only the place where we live that differentiates us?And since I can’t ask the one guy “Is everyone in America as good looking as you?”, nor the other “Is everyone in America as ugly as you?”, I thought that I’ll post this here. |

This was entertaining.
From personal experience, I can tell you we have some f'ugly people running around our country; we have "barbie" types as well. Unfortunately, the f'uglies out number the "barbies" (but I'm picky). Manners seem to vary based on region, state, and/or city. A great place to get a wide variety of different looking Americans would be dating/matchmaking sites. Some even have member slide shows that allow you to browse the listings by viewing member photos.

Good idee, I'll try that. But wouldn't it give me the wrong impression (like movies ). I have the opinion that only losers (no offence to anyone) uses dating/matchmaking sites (maybe with one or two exceptions (2 not offend anyone ) ). |

I wrote the database and helped to set one up some years ago - and then helped to run it, doing the website and stuff, and I can assure you that 99% of the people on there were totally normal, genuine people who just don't get a chance to meet new faces in their usual working lives. Of course the 'quality of stock' will depend a lot on the agency admin and the way they choose to angle their marketing and content - there are some agencies around who charge thousands for 'ambassador' level memberships, and others that are free. I'd say that a well presented, properly moderated community of that nature would be an excellent place to go even if you just want to make new contacts say if you have moved to a new area or whatever.. it's not always just about sex and if that's the message you're getting, you're in the wrong place. christo ![]()

Walk around your own country and you can't tell me you won't see the same thing... good looking people, ugly people, weird people, etc...
If you're a professional where you work, their appearance, according to how you perceive it, should not matter for much of anything. ---John Holmes... Last edited by Sepodati : September 23rd, 2003 at 11:12 AM. |

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Someone could look ugly as all heck to you but be attractive to someone else. Who are we to be able to pass judgement? We are all made in Gods image and we are all unique. If we looked the same I think the world would be a rather horrid and boring place, don't you?

exactly. I mean, why spend all that money just to make your car look different to someone elses. Just grab a hammer and smash in a panel on the car that looks like yours. Straight away it looks different and didn't cost you a cent!
