Syntax and semantics and something else I can't remember at 2 AM were invented for "real" languages before they were transferred to the CS world.

Just for the record:
WWW != Internet

WWW contains info, it's an application using the Internet as it's "transport" or "medium" and in no way a network (you could theoretically pack the entire WWW into one single computer). rod k explained what the Internet is.

"On the Internet" is definitely the most common phrase. There is not necessarily a good reason for this, but that's how it is. Also, xinshi, "information" is always singular, never "informations."
